The Basset Bleu de Gascogne is the shortest of the four
Bleu de Gascogne breeds (the Grand Bleu de Gascogne,
Petit Bleu de Gascogne, Griffon Bleu de Gascogne, and the
Basset Bleu de Gascogne).

At this time there are only two Basset Bleu de Gascogne
kennels in the US, and we are the only show kennel.

"Basset" in French only refers to a scent hound under 15"
at the withers (shoulders). Thus, this breed is in NO direct
manner related to the Basset Hound. Like the various
shepherd breeds, the various basset breeds (there are
more than a dozen) are related solely in function and form,
but NOT in bloodlines i.e. one is not a variety of another.

Moreover, this is a very athletic breed, easily able to keep
up with horse and rider or a well trained runner.
